The FDA's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research and Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research has issued a data standards strategy for fiscal 2018 through 2022. The strategy focuses on three principles: ensuring the use of high quality data standards, ensuring the effectiveness and broad utility of data standards through the adoption or adaptation of other standards that are in use, and reducing the regulatory burden through alignment with current health information technology initiatives, laws and regulations.

The U.S. Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) is seeking public comment on the development of a National Strategic Plan for Advanced Manufacturing. The OSTP published a request for information in the Federal Register that asks for input on ways to improve government coordination and long-term guidance for federal programs to support U.S. manufacturing competitiveness, including advanced manufacturing R&D that will create jobs, grow the economy across multiple industrial sectors, strengthen national security and improve health care. Comments are due by March 7.
